Founded in 1991, the Graduate Institute of Applied Geology has actively engaged in teaching and research in applied geological sciences. We offer both M.S. and Ph.D. degrees, with an emphasis on the impact assessment of geohazards, geoenvironments, and georesources.
Our institute brings together seven full-time, twenty jointly appointed, and six adjunct faculty members—a broad team whose expertise spans hydrogeology, neotectonics, engineering geology, environmental geochemistry, and high-performance numerical simulation.
Students receive excellent opportunities to acquire hands-on experience through laboratory and fieldwork. All students are strongly encouraged to pursue publishable research in close collaboration with their advisors.
